Wet Weather Alternative
If the weather prevents us from walking, or the track conditions are not safe, we offer an alternative itinerary. This way you can still experience the landscapes and surrounds of Christchurch city without getting wet! When the weather allows we will still incorporate some walking.
We start our day with hot drinks at a cafe in our seaside suburb of Sumner, followed by a shortened walk from Taylors Mistake if possible. From here we visit the port of Lyttelton for some history, then back into the city to see some of the sights. City highlights may include the Tannery, New Regents Street, the Transitional Cathedral, finishing up at Riverside Market or the Art Gallery. If you have any special requests please speak to your guide and we will do our best to incorporate them.

Our Cancellation Policy
​
We understand that plans may change, and want to ensure a fair and transparent cancellation policy for all of our customers. Please take note of the following guidelines:
​
Cancellation Deadline: Cancellations for groups of 1-4 people which are made 48 hours or more before the scheduled tour will receive a refund, less a 25% administration fee. For group bookings of 5 people or more, we require 7-days notice.
​
Last-Minute Cancellations: Cancellations made within 48 hours of the scheduled tour will not be eligible for a refund.
​
Weather-related Cancellations: We endeavor to provide a great alternative to our usual itinerary during bad weather, however in the event of extreme weather events or safety concerns, Crater Rim Walks reserves the right to cancel the tour. In such cases, customers will receive a full refund or the option to reschedule.
​
Minimum Group Size: Our walks have a minimum number of 2 participants to operate. If the walk does not reach the minimum threshold, we will provide a full refund or offer an alternative tour option.
​
Rescheduling: Customers may request to reschedule their tour without incurring a cancellation fee, subject to availability and with advance notice.
​
Private Tours and Special Events: Different cancellation policies may apply to private group tours and special events. Please refer to the specific terms and conditions provided during the booking process.
​
Emergencies and Exceptional Circumstances: Crater Rim Walks understands that emergencies can arise. We will consider exceptional circumstances on a case-by-case basis and may offer refunds or rescheduling options at our discretion.
​
Cruise Ship rescheduling: If a cruise ship is not able to port at Lyttelton we will provide a refund, less a 25% administration fee.
​

Hotel Pick-Up
We provide free hotel pick up if you are staying within a 5km radius of Christchurch City Centre. If you are staying further out of town, or near the airport, we can arrange pick up for an additional fee, or our meeting point is at the Distinction Hotel, Cathedral Square.
